crystal shower on Saturday eve-
ning, February 28, from 7:30 to
9:30 at the St. Paul’s Education-
al building.
The honoree, her mother, Mrs
Lee Hoy Mueller and the groom’s
mother, Mrs. Milton R. Schmidt
greeted the guests in the receiv-
ing line. \
The refreshment table was
covered with a white linen cloth
and was centered with an ar-
rangement of pink giadiolas and
pink carnations flanked by pink
candles ifl crystal holders.
The refreshments were punch,
cake squares, mints and nuts.
Miss Camille Freytag served the
punch from a crystal bowl while
Mis Carolyn Kern served the
caek squares.
The gifts were displayed on a
lace covered table centered with
a white potted chrysanthemum.
The shower was given by Mes-
dames Harvey Mueller, Harold
StuOber, Misses Carolyn Kern,
Lou Ann Birdwell and Camille
Freytag.
On Saturday, February 14,
Miss Mueller was given a mis-
cellaneous shower at the Com-
munity Center in Schulenburg

Sacred Heart Ladies
Altar Society Meet
The Ladies Altar Society met
Monday night at the Sacred
Heart School for their regular
monthly meeting.
Reports of various committees
were heard. Mrs. John Sumbera
resolution chairman, reported
that Mass was arranged for
deceased member Frances Falty-
sek, mother of Mrs. L. J. San-
ders. h- •
Four members volunteered to
take turns in sending flowers to
the hospital on Wednesdays dur-
ing March.
It was reported that two new
surpluses were ordered for Hie
pastors. n 7
At the close of the meeting
Rev. Harry Mazurkiewicz de-
livered an inspiring talk on his
recent attendance at the Holy
Name Society convention held
in Dallas, of which Charles Ma-
lik, president of the United Na-
tion General Assembly was
principle speaker. Father Harry
also reminded the members that
March is Vocation month, and
that special prayers should be
said for this intention.

The Valentine motif was car-
ried out in the decorations and
refreshments.
Several friends of Texas Lu-
theran College lb Seguin com-
plimented Miss Mueller with a
surprise lingerie shower at TLC
in Seguin on Thursday, Feb. 26.
Refreshments of punch and cake
was served to the many guests.
Miss Mueller received a large
number of pretty and useful
gifts.
The wedding will take place
at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
in La Grange on Sunday, March
22.

Discusses Tour
A discussion regarding an edu-
cational tour to Warm Springs
in Gonzales and to the Battle of
Flowers in San Antonio was the
main item at the February meet-
ing of the St. Paul HD club
when they met at the home of
Mrs. Joe F. Wick. There were 12
members and four visitors pre-
sent.
After the council report was
read and discussed, the presi-
dent read committee recommen-
dations which were also discuss-
ed. Meeting time was changed
from 1:30 to 2 p.m.

Palace theatre of “Breast Self
Examination.”* All women are
asked to attend this show, March
10 at 2 and 3 p. m.
Mrs. Joe Barton and Mrs. Jim
Hluchanek explained how to
plan a home garden and what
vegetables and what kind of var-
iety to plant here. Leaflets were
given to members,

Recreation was enjoyed by all.
The hostess served delicious re-
freshments.
The next meeting will be on
March 12 at 2 p. m. in the home
of Mrs. Charlie Janecka. Visi-

OBSERVES BIRTHDAY
Mrs. Willie Jones of Austin
observed her 84th birthday Sun-
day at the home of her son-in-
law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. Yeary, Sr. Her four child-
ren and their husbands and
wives were present for a family
dinner. Present were Mr. and
Mrs. N. D. Jones of Dallas, Mr
and Mrs. A. F Jones and Mr. and
Mrs. R. D. Patterson of Austin

spent Sunday at Glen Lake Camp
at Glen Rose, Texas attending a
si>ecial Workshop on Adult Work.
While Rev. Cloyd was away
pulpit was filled by Edwin Plow-
mann, superintendent of schools
in Hallettsville.
Guests at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. F. R. Dykes on Sunday were
Dr. and Mrs N. B. Searle, Mr.
and Mrs L. W. Matteson and fa-
mily, and Mrs. Edwin A. Searle
Sr., all of Houston. During the
afternoon they attended the sil-
ver wedding anniversary of Rev.
and Mrs. John F. Jensen.
Harvey Busch, a student at
Arlington State College of Ar-
lington, Texas spent several days
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Erwin Busch.
Mrs. Celeste Willmann spent
Tuesday and Sunday with her
mother, Mrs. Lillie F. Blood-
worth, a patient at John Sealy
hospital in Galveston, who was
suffering with a relapse of
pheumonia. Her condition has
greatly Improved.
While Edward Wright of Dal-
las was in La Grange on busi-
ness with the Weber Insurance
Agency he stopped by The La
Grange Journal office to pur-
chase the story of Monument
Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Simpson
visited in San Marcos Sunday at
the home of Mrs. Simpson’s par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Whitley.
Mrs. Chas. Brothers and son,
Ben Jay, of Gonzales are in La
Grange .for a few days taking
care of grandpa Werth and the
Werth household while Mrs.
Werth is a patient at Fayette
Memorial hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Wendlend,
Mrs. Selma Wierschuski and
daughter of Austin were week
end visitors in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Bohot.

son born Saturday, Feb. 28 at

He weighed 8 lbs. Grandparents

Fayetteville and" Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Hoelscher of Ellinger. He
was welcomed by his little sister
Barbara Ann.

Urban of Houston spent the
weekend here with homefolk.
PAUL BOHOT, a Junior at
Concordia Lutheran High School
Austin, was elected by the High
School Student Council to rep-
resent the Lutheran Concordia
College of Texas at the 10th An-
nual Lutheran Student Govern-
ment Conference, which was
held at Concordia Collegiate In-
stitute, Bronxsville, New York,
on Feb. 19, 20, and 21. Paul is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Bohot of Giddings, and is cur-
rently president «o1 the High
School Junior Class, in addition
be is a member of the High
School Student Council and the
Dormitory Council.
BREAKS HIP
Mrs. G. W. Werth, Sr. is a pat-
ient in Fayette Memorial hospi-
tal where she was taken early
Friday night following a fall in
her home. She suffered a broken
hip. Mrs. Werth was resting and
had gotten up to answer the tele-
phone when she slipped and fell
to the floor.
VISIT HERE
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gilliam vis-
ited here in the home of Mr. Gil-
liam’s mother, Mrs. R. H. Gil-
liam and his sisters and family,
the Marion Wessels and Albert
Witts enroute from Houston to
California. The Gilliams will
make their new home in Glen-
dora where Mr. Gilliam has sec-
ured employment.
