All Helped.
Believe in Progress.
Due to an oversight mention was
not made last week of the help
given by the principal of the colored
school and his boys. The follow-
ing colored boys put in a day or a
part of a day helping to build good
sidewalks in ward five: August
Aycox, Jr., Vastine Goodman,
Vernell Jamison, Westley Short,
Carold Warren, Hubert Scott, Geo
Hunt, Dewey Moore, Leon Wil-
liams, Willie Aycox, Rodgers Dris-
dale, Bern Anderson and Henry
Sampson.
The boys under the directions of
G. A. Randolph did splendid work.
They not only showed a willing-
ness to help others, but as a result
of their efforts, they have directly
sided themselves by building good
sidewalks leading to their own
school house.
Card of Thanks.
We take this opportunity of
thanking our kind friends and ac-
quaintances who so willingly as-
sisted us during the visit of the
flood waters, and who sheltered
and offered us aid when our home
was claimed by the water. May
God’s blessings be showed upon
you all, is the wish of yours most
gratefully,
Mss. Chbistink Kobnecke.
Miss Emma Kobnecke.
Henry L. Koxnbckb.
At an election held at West Point
last week, to determine whether
bonds to the amount of five thou-
sand dollars should be issued for
the purpose of erecting a brick
school house and maintainance
fund, the qualified voters went to
the polls and voted “aye.” Think
of it, not one dissenting vote. !
West Point is a village, but the
citizens are of the right spirit. The
younger generation will receive
their common school education in
the proposed building, and as they
reach maturity, will be in a posi-
tion to. encourage the progressive
spirit among their followers by
pointing to this monumeut as a
good example.
Sold and Bought.
Chas Eckel, who recently sold
his saloon to Frank Fritsch, has
this week sold his residence prop-
erty on South Jefferson street to
the same party. Charley in turn
purchased the Natt 'Holman resi-
dence in the northern end of the
city. ~_

WOMAN DEFUSES
OPERATION
Tells How She Was Saved
by Taking Lydia E. Pink-
ham's Vegetable
Compound.
Loganaport, Ind. — “My baby waa
over a year old and I bloated till I waa
a burden to thyself.
I Buffered from fe-
male trouble ao I
could not ataihd on
my feet aAd I felt
like milliona of
needlea were prick-
ing me all over. At
last my doctor told
me that all that’
would save me was
an operation, but
this I refused. I
told my husband to get me a bottle of
Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Com-,
pound and I would try it before I would
submit to any operation. He did so and
I improved right along. I am now doing
all my work and feeling fine.
“I hope other suffering women will try
your Compound. I will recommend it
to all I know.” — Mrs. Daniel D. B.
Davis, 110 Franklin St.,Logansport,Ind.
Since we guarantee that all testimo-
nials which we publish are genuine, is it
not fair to suppose that if Lydia EV
Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound has the
virtue to help these women it will help
any other woman who is Buffering in a
like manner?
If you are ill do not drag along until
an operation is necessary, but at once
take Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable
Compound.

Reduction Key Rate.
Local insurance agents were
norified by the State Insurance
Commission the first of the week
that a reduction of 15 per cent, in
the key rate, or final rate on All
insured property within the corpor-
ate limits of the city had been
granted. LaGrange, it seems, on
account of its low loss ratio, .148,
was the first to receive the reduc-
tion. In every way we are getting
the best of it.
