Description: Photograph of the German cruiser Admiral Graf Spree being scuttled following the Battle of the River Plate on December 17, 1939. She had taken mostly superficial damage during the battle four days prior, but her oil purification and desalination plants were destroyed and was unfit for return to Germany.
