[The Snelbinder Bridge]

Description: Photograph of Snelbinder bridge, also known as Nijmegen railway bridge, in the city of Nijimegen in the Netherlands. The middle arch of the bridge was destroyed twice during the Second World War. The first demolition was by the Dutch in 1940 to prevent invasion by German forces. The second demolition was by the German in 1944.

Students were tested on how they responded to art, if they valued art as a medium, how skillfully they produced art and how much history they know. By collecting the date it was possible to make claims about the status of art teaching.

[Leaf from Miniature Prayer Book, 15th Century, Netherlands]

Description: Leaf from a miniature prayer book in Old Dutch (The Netherlands, 15th-century). Text appears in a single column, late gothic script. The present leaf contains prayers for the "Heilige Jonc frauwen" Saint Gertrude and Saint Margaret. Note the scribe misspelled the girl's name as "Gertgtruyt" to which he/she/they made an unobtrusive correction. This item is unique in its collection, of the 37 leaves from this acquisition made in 2018, this is the only one on paper.
