Description: Pair of folding glasses. Silver mounted glasses with small oval lenses. Earpieces fold via a swivel rivet and terminate in tear-drop-shaped loop. No marks. Loose lens wrapped with spectacles. Measurements: 4 1/2" wide x 1" high; earpieces 6" long extended, 4" long folded.

[Two Mourners and Hope at Washingtons Grave]

Description: Engraving by Boston printmaker Thomas Clarke showing a man and woman weeping into handkerchiefs in front of the grave of George Washington. Washington's monument includes his face engraved below a cherubim and the epitaph "There is Reft in Heaven" and is set at the foot of a weeping willow. The two figures are being consoled by a figure of Hope, who stands by an anchor and points to heaven.

[Criminal Case against Bentura Gonsales]

Description: Letter from Josef Arango to officials in Santa Maria with a criminal case against Bentura Gonsales for the killing of Ysidro Garcia. According to the case Gonsales escaped prison on February 15, 1797, and his apprehension is ordered. The document itself is badly stained and has frayed edges.

[Legal document for moving two enslaved people from Virginia to Maryland]

Description: This legal document lists two enslaved women removed from Virginia and moved into Somerset County, Maryland by Littleton D. Teackle. He states in January of 1801 he brought into Somerset County one negro girl named Sarah alias Sally, about ten years old, and one negro woman named Nanny alias Nancy, about 38 yrs old, filed March 24, 1801.

[Guide: The Art of the Cathedral, The Bicentennial of the Saltillo Cathedral, 1801-2001]

Description: Guidebook published in honor of the bicentennial anniversary of the Saltillo Cathedral in Saltillo, Mexico. There are several colorful pictures along with historical information in the book. There are two introductions at the beginning of the book by Raúl Vera López, who is the Bishop of the Saltillo Cathedral, and Javier Villarreal Lozano, who is the director. There is a separate letter typed in Spanish at the back of the book that was written by the Governor of the State of Coahuila.
