Description: Photograph of an aisle at the Hills Store. The shelves of this aisle are stocked full of can food, with brands such as Honey Boy, Campbell's, Hunts, and Eat Well. [Man Demonstrating Syrup Cooking Furnace]

Description: Photograph of a man giving a demonstration of his syrup cooking furnace at the Texas Folklife Festival. The furnace is underneath a small wooden pavilion on which a sign is posted that reads, "Syrup Cooker". A crowd of about thirteen or so visitors is gathered at the front of the pavilion, listening to the man talk about his syrup cooker. The cooker itself is made of stone with a furnace and small chimney. Above the furnace is a rectangular trough which holds the syrup.

[Letter from Max Cramer to I. H. Kempner, 1944~]

Description: Letter from Max Cramer to I. H. Kempner discussing Kempner no longer raising sugar cane and making syrup but thanking Kempner for purchasing Cramer syrup from Louisiana. Cramer also ask Kempner if he is married and that if he is not, then he wants to introduce him to a woman.
