The street is covered with large puddles, and buildings and stores in the background have been damaged. The writing on the front of the photograph dates it September 16-17, 1915. The back of the postcard has a handwritten note about the flood, addressed to Port Arthur, Texas.

Postcard from Fred to his sister Mrs. Gus Jentsch. The correspondence is written in German. On the front is a photograph of a brick building on a corner of a street. The building is two floors and houses the Little Red Onion Cafe and the Sanitex Clothes Shop. The clothes shop has a few stairs leading up to its door. Part of the shops can be seen through the front windows. The sidewalk in front of the stores is lined with trees.

Two telephone lines and two buildings loom above either side of the street; the building to the right is the Port Arthur post office. Trees and several other buildings can be seen in the background.
