Description:
Patent for "shank stiffener and heel securing plate for use in the manufacture of shoes or in the repair work" (lines 25-27) to prevent or repair buckling, loosening, and breaking of heels due to shanks of soles being made from "leather, compressed paper, or steel" (lines 18-19) which historically have not been able to support the heel of the shoe.
