Car Coupling.
Description:
Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "consists in the employment of a handled shaft hung in suitable bearings or buffers at the end of the car, and having a wheel provided with a series of pins or arms adapted to be automatically projected and retracted, said shaft also having ratchets engaged by holding-pawls" (lines 15-21).
