Description: Patent for improvements in toy trumpets in which in addition to making sound, the movement of air through the instrument also causes a disk on top of the instrument to revolve by the force of the air on paddles that form the bottom of the disk. The top of the disk will have decorative figures such as soldiers.

Improvement in Combined Spading, Plowing, and Stalk-Cutting Machines.

Description: Patent for an earth working machine that can be used for spading, plowing and stalk-cutting by arranging “a series of spades in a plane parallel with the axis of the machine and interposed spades in planes at right angles thereto, all attached to a reciprocating cross-bar.” (P. 2, lines [29]-[33].) The spades are adjustable in height and, it can be removed to use as a cultivator. For stalk-cutting, the plows may be removed. Illustration is included.

Improvement in Cotton-Presses

Description: Patent for a new and improved Cotton-Press. The invention relates to the press on which a Patent (No. 150,573) was granted May 5, 1874, to William B. Hollowell. It consists of a duplicate master-wheel on the drum for working the follower; also an improved contrivance for connecting the pitman to the lever and to its pivot, whereby the machine is rendered more efficient and may be lighter for a given strength.
