Cocktail dress of black satin and velvet. Knee length; front has central section of black satin with curved side panels of black velvet; fabric of bodice forms a large bow; boned bodice; bodice and skirt are two separate sections basted together at hips; long sleeves of black velvet with three covered buttons and loops; back of velvet; zipper down back princess seam; fully lined in black silk. Designer's label at left of back zipper: "Pierre Balmain / Paris" Handwritten couture number behind: "173033"
