NATURAL ALPHA
INTERFERON is one of the
chemicals the body makes
naturally when it detects the
presence of a virus. It has been used by
veterinarians to treat feline leukemia for some time,
but only in the last few years have we learned of its
remarkable ability to restore appetite, energy, and
general health in PWAs. The product is taken
orally in doses which are 1) proportionate to body
weight, and 2) so small they make this an extremely
cost-effective therapy. It comes in 7cc vials.
AZITHROMYCIN, our newest
product, is the most sophisticated
of the macrolide antibiotics. It has
the highest fat solubility, enabling
it to permeate tissues and remain longer in the
system, and its target area is unusually wide-it has
shown effectiveness against both toxo and MAI.
CLARITHROMYCIN is a
macrolide with a mission, and it
means big trouble for MAI.
Having also had success against
toxo, clarithromycin has been approved in Ireland
and in Italy for several years, and its chemical
strength gives it a very bright future in AIDS
research. Protocol is two tablets four times per day
for 30 days, then one tablet four times per day for
30 days.
CO-ENZYME Q-10 is a
naturally occurring nutrient that
helps produce energy by acting as
a catalyst in the cells. Many
Japanese people have included Co-Q10 (not to be
confused with Compound Q) in their daily health
regimens since the late sixties, because it
strengthens the immune system and the heart, and
it does so naturally with absolutely no toxicity.ddC is the most powerful HIV
inhibitor to date. It suppresses the
reverse transcription process that
HIV needs to replicate. A
neucleoside analogue, ddC is related to AZT, but
does not have its harsh toxicities (severe anemia,
bone marrow/immune suppression, etc.). Dosage is
between three and six .25 mg tablets per day.
ISOPRINOSINE is an
immunomodulator that has had
good results for PWAs whose T
cell counts are over 200, or who
are asymptomatic. Though its specific chemical
action is not yetfully understood, it is known to
increase white cell division and production, increase
T4 counts, activate natural killer cells, and possibly
improve interleukin 2 production. Two tablets
three times per day is the usual dosage.
ITRACONAZOLE is a strong
antifungal that has had success in
the management of Candida-the
fungus which causes thrush.
Thrush is an oral and digestive tract infection and
one of the most common OlIs. The initial dosage is
one 100 mg capsule twice daily for 30 days; follow
up with two capsules daily for one week per month
to prevent recurrence.
LEVAMISOLE is an
immunomodulator which, like
alpha interferon, has been
approved by the FDA for
veterinary treatments only. It's been through quite
an ordeal with patents and other things, but it has
had remarkable laboratory as well as anecdotal
success. It works by preventing the formation of an
immunosuppressive lymphokine, thereby rebuilding
and strengthening the immune system. DTC
(Imuthiol) was designed to emulate Levamisole
when the patent fuss began, but it wasn't able to
achieve the same results.
