Lonroe L. Ridgeway,
pumper for Skelly Oil
Company here, is celebrating
his 25th service anniversary
with the company this month.
He will receive an engraved
watch as a service award.
Ridgeway joined the
exploration and production
department March 23, 1949, in
Kansas. He moved to Kermit as
a roustabout in 1963 and has
held his present post since
1969.
A member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars, American
Legion and Church of Christ,
Ridgeway attended Harleton
(Tex.) High School. He enjoys
ENGAGEMENT IS ANNOUNCED
Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Kavanaugh of Anthony. New Mexico, are
announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their
daughter, Vada Kathleen, to Timothy Duane Satterfield, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Satterfield of 553 South Cedar. The
forthcoming marriage is planned for January. The future bride is
a graduate of Elsinore High School in California and Satterfield
is a graduate of Kermit High School. Both Miss Kavanaugh and
Satterfield are students at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Anderson of Monahans are announcing the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jerrie
Lynn Anderton, to Jerry Wayne Barron, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George Barron of 404 South Ave. B. The future bride is a 1973
graduate of Monahans High School and is now attending Odessa
College. Barron is a 1973 graduate of Kermit High School and is
now a freshman at New Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology at Socorro, N. M. The couple plans to be married
May 31 at 7 p.m. in Monahans Baptist Church.

Kermit High School and
Kermit Junior High attended
the West Texas Forum of
Student Councils Saturday,
March 23, in Big Spring.
The students were guests of
Big Spring High School and in
the morning session the Big
Spring High School students
performed a portion of their
musical program entitled,
“Campus Review.”
After' the musical
performance, the students
formed discussion groups and
Kermit Junior High students
led the discussion group, “How
to Prevent Vandalism in Your
School.” KHS students led
their group in a discussion
entitled, “How to Run for
State Office.”
In the afternoon session the
election of officer schools for
the coming year were held and
other forum business was
conducted.
Alpine High School was
elected president and Kermit
High School was elected to the
post of vice president school.
The secretary-treasurer
school in the 1974-75 school
year will be Crane High School
and Permian High School will
be parliamentarian.
KHS students participating
in the forum included Robin
Sutton, Don Roberts, Debbie
Glander and Kerry Geisler. The
high school sponsor is Herman
Barrs.
Kermit Junior High students
participating in the forum were
John Kurtz, Pam Glander,
Deana Gregory, Darla McCalab,
Jeana Bishop, Bobby Williams,
Lois Samford, Layne Nutt,
Duff Michel, Marietta Hix,
Sandy Helmer, Melissa Collins,
Lisa Davis and sponsor Eldon
Price.

Residents of Bellerive, Mo.,
have been told their plan for
protection from burglars is
financially impossible. The
board of trustees of the town
had hoped to put a fence
topped with barbed wire
around the village to protect its
35 families.

Our Little Miss Pageant
To Start Friday, April 5
Kermit’s Our Little Miss
Pageant will get under way
Friday, April 5, with the first
round of competition set to
begin at 7 p.m. in the Kermit
High School Auditorium.
The pageant will feature
competition in both the La
Petite and Little Miss Divisions.
Contestants will meet
Saturday morning for Snack
Parties in the Kermit State
Bank Blue Room. The Snack
Party for Little Miss La Petite
contestants will be held from
10 a,m,, until 11 a.in., apd the
party for Little Miss
contestants will take place
from 11 a.m. until 12 noon.
Final competition in the
pageant will begin at 7 o’clock
Saturday night in Kermit High
School Auditorium.

AFTER LAUNCH
Rick Owens, a sophomore
at Brigham Young University
in Provo, Utah, has won $25-
for a rocket that launched an
egg 200 feet without shattering
it.
Owens, of ,Orem, Utah,
„designed and built the rocket
and demonstrated it as part of j ^
engineering week at the school..
He and others taking part in a
contest placed eggs inside their
missiles and blasted them
toward a target 200 feet away.
Judging was based on
closeness to the target and the
condition of the eggs after the
launch.
