Notes

Mr. Eyring was identified as Henry B. Eyring due to the overlap between his time as an associate professor of business at Stanford University and Kempner's time studying business at Stanford. Eyring taught at the university between 1962 and 1971. He is currently an apostle (international leader) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

There are several handwritten notes from Mr. Eyring to Kempner. An undecipherable note is on the cover page. A note on page 3 says "what if demand wasn't constant as you show? What happens in fact?". One on page 4, referring to a number of 40%, says "is this a small jump?". One on page 5, referring to Kempner's recommendation for a "hindsight 'simulation' study", asks, "How would this give variables?". One on page 6 says, "what can be done without th [sic] component". A lengthy note on page 7 (Exhibit 1) reads, "Your analysis neglects the effect of using past real demand data to predict future demands. What specifically are your objectives in making these recommendations."

A grade calculation is on the back of the last page.
