Notes

Text of item: "My dear, beloved and wise Uncle! I received your kind letter containing 12 pairs of beautiful Nylon stockings which I sold without the slightest diffiiculty. This money was for me a heavenly gift indeed and it of course was spent to pay the lawyers. You guess rightly. I wonder if also the Kempners understand it. I was sure that in the month of May my sorrow will take an end but it was once more a deception. How to endure it? How to find forces for this terrible struggle? I am quite exhausted. I do not know how my heart can endure it. Believe me, my dear Uncle, that your letters relating about your quite happy life bring me a great comfort. May it last long, long years. Please write me as often as you can all about you and your family. Since 26 months I do not know what pleasure or peace of mind means. I am moving and doing all my duties concerning my unhappy affair and my husband. But I perform all this like an automation. I hardly know that the seaons of the year are chaning. The last winter was very hard, very cold, but all that is behind us. You understand, dear Uncle wht athe Kempners help and also your help means for me. Without it I schould have no other alter-native then to commit a suicide. Forgive me my monotonous letters, perhaps the day will come when it will end. I am intending to write soon to the Kempners and to thank them for for a splendid suit of clothes they sent for my husband. Accept please, my dear Uncle, my best greetings for you and all your Family. My best greetings also for Uncle Herman.
