Black and white photo-postcard of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas, taken sometime in the 1940s. The one-story brick building with basement has a central entrance tower with a hipped roof, which projects from a front gable-roofed main section with a side gable section behind it. It is a simple, unornamented building, except for the round arched entrance with three rows of corbelled brick surrounding the doors and two square pillars on either side of the entrance supporting lamps. Description

Black and white photo-postcard of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas, taken sometime in the 1940s. The one-story brick building with basement has a central entrance tower with a hipped roof, which projects from a front gable-roofed main section with a side gable section behind it. It is a simple, unornamented building, except for the round arched entrance with three rows of corbelled brick surrounding the doors and two square pillars on either side of the entrance supporting lamps. The church is built on a slope, which allows for "basement" rooms beneath the back part of the building. The windows appear to be casement windows, and one in the back wing is partially open. A metal frame perpendicular to the road holds a sign with information about the church, but the text is not readable due to the angle. The back of a small house is visible behind the church. At the bottom of the image in white letters is the title, "Jerusalem Baptist Church - Marshall, Texas. 6-J-91" There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. The format, quality, and number code are almost identical to another card in this collection with the publisher's name W. M. Cline Co., Chattanooga, printed on it, and this card was probably produced by the same company.
