Death of Mrs. Umberger. <
Mrs. Lillian Umberger died at the
family home on Fourteenth street at
about five o'clock Friday afternoon
after an illness with a complication
of troubles. . following an attack of
the measles.
-Mrs. Umberger was past thirty-six
years of age and leaves the husband
and two children to mourn her death.
The funeral service? conducted by
Rev. Stuekey. was held at the tamily
residence at 2 o'clock Saturday after-
noon. and tne body was laid to rest

. The promoter of the project is Mr.
J. Markowitz, a capitalist from Gal-
veston. Mr. Markowitz has been in
Wichita Falls several days- and has
made purchases in both city real es-
tate and farm lands. One of his
largest purchases has been the Ly-
saght farm of 718 acres, situated just
west of the irrigation dam, at a con-
sideration of 827.50 per acre.
Himself a caplalist of no small
means, Mr. Markowitz is representing
a syndicate of Galveston men whose
wealth aggregate many milions of
dollars. This money is being invest-
ed in various holdings In the most
promising sections of the State.
