LOOKING BACK IN THE PAST
Let’s just look back
for a moment and in our
minds relive some of the
. exciting things we saw
7:30 Tuesday night, March
6, 1962. Of course I’m
speaking of our school
pagent, ’’Texas’ Tunes Thru
The Times".
I thought squaws were
always fat. Didn’t you,
Ginny, Brenda, and Char-
lene?!!.....Walter has
started in with the short
skirt style, or maybe it’s
the Scottish girls. Huh,
Jan?!!.... Roy, how did
you ever learn how to
square dance so "grace-
fully?". ... .Joie, was that
fall planned or accidental?
Miss Tidwell should look
after her students more
carefully.....Gary, I
heard that La Salle was
killed by one of his own
men. (You’d better keep
your eyes open!).....
Didn't those bull fighters
almost look experienced?
Ole 2.....I never knew
that our English Puritan
ancestors looked so much
like friends I know. How
about it Elizabeth!.....
Our railroad boys were
working so hard, I almost
thought I heard the Santa
Fe Whoo-o-o!!.....Martha
and Kathy, how does it
feel to be a plantation
slave?!.....Who won the
fight which was protrayed
by Mr. Maddox’s room?.....
Mr. Barham, why didn’t you
let the departing sweet-
hearts kiss?..... khat
should be done about the
union soldier prisoner we
have? Do you have any
suggestions, Kenneth?.....
Who would believe those
wild exciting stories of
the West after seeing Ful-
ton’s cowboys. Sweet
dreams, boys!.....What’s
wrong Henry? Ya got your
bicycle scorned?!!.....
Fulton has got a miniature
rag time band including
"chorus girls"..... What
did you think of Katy and
her stuttering boy-friend?
.....What about those
Charleston girls. 07WWhoo-
la-la”!!’.....Could it be
possible that those in Mr.
Jordan’s homeroom are
"broke"?.....Jay and
Cynthia live by this motto,
"While the cat’s away the
mouse will play". You just
have to live with it, Gary
!!.....In all of the towns
mentioned, don’t you think
Cleburne was the best?!!!!
We would like to thank
the chorus for singing the
songs best suited for the
scenes, the band for play-
ing ’’Texas, Our Texas” so
nicely, Mr. Cooke for being
our moderator, and .all the
teachers for putting,up
with all the "quack” ideas
mentioned to them.
Everyone that saw it
thoroughly en joyed it and
those that were in it
worked extremely well to
present it. For their
effort to please the aud-
ience, they should be con-
gratulated greatly.
GAZING AROUND WITH THE
. BOOKWORMS
While gazing with the
bookworms the past weeks,
we heard and saw many in-
teresting things.
We heard Miss Self say
that the slogan for Nat-
ional Library Week was,
"Read and Make Your World
Grow”, The more books we
have to chew on, the bet-
ter we’ll like it.
Speaking of books, a
great big box of delicious
books just came in -
wait’ll we get our teeth
into them !
We saw Charlene Mason
reading ’’Living in Latin
America". Maybe she’s
planning to move, let’s
hope not.
■Ie saw Jerry Jennings - -
reading "The Minerals
and Rocks”. Maybe he’s
planning to go into the
field of geology.
We saw Georgia Gilli-
land reading another book
about horses. Maybe she’s
trying to find out more -
about that flying horse.
We saw Sharon Story
reading "When Boy Dates
Girl”. - When???
FULTON CONTRIBUTES ^17,6^
During the fury of
Hurricane Carla, the San
Jacinto Monument was dam-
aged. Many o.f our legis-
lators voted against the
legislature paying the
full repair bill because
of many incidentals. The
legislature decided that
if each student in the
Texas schools would con-
tribute one cent a day for
five days that there would
be almost enough money to
cover the repair bill.
The legislature will make
up the difference between
what is given and the
total needed. The stu-
dents in Fulton contribut-
ed $17.64. This is much
the same way in which the
