MRGDC has received such an
award Previous awards were for
economic development and sum-
mer youth programs. There were
more than eighty program opera-
tors from five states competing for
this year's honor
DOL noted that it was recogniz-
ing MRGDC for the innovative
development and successful results
of the 1991 Summer Youth pro-
gram. The program was modified
from previous years to include a
merit system to award those stu-
dents who performed well during
the regular school year
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of paid circulation is in Frio County
and twenty-three (23%) of paid circulation is in La Salle County
making the FRIO-NUECES CURRENT the legal publication of
Frio and La Salle counties.

Students who passed all courses
during the regular school year and
who performed at grade level were
awarded an opportunity to gain
valuable work experience through
jobs with the city and county gov-
ernments or school districts. The
program also offered these students
an opportunity to earncollege credit,
area of w eakness

year but did not operate at current
grade level were enrolled in reme-
dial education courses to strengthen
their area of weakness.
