A handwritten note on the postcard, which is addressed to Miss Annie Wiggers, says "Well if it wasn't for the scripture where it says all ye who are weary and heavy laden come unto me and I will give you rest. That is the only hope I have in this world. I don't think there ever will be any more pleasure for me left in this old world. I do sometimes wonder if ever I could be happy again. There is only one [?] for me and that is-"
