Additional information: "Writer doubts if he can act as Fiscal in granting the Missionaries permission to administer to the Spaniards and begs his Excellency to permit him to act as Fiscal without impediment,otherwise he begs his Excellency to advise him accordingly."

Additional information: "The Sr.Auditor discusses the efforts being made for the pacification and colonization of the coast of Mexico according to the Royal decrees of 1739, 1743 & 1746."

Additional information: "Sr.Auditor de la Guerra sees no obstacle to Dn. Joseph de Escandon's request that the Missionaries in Texas & wherever they had established missions be permitted to administer the Holy Sacraments to the Spaniards as well as to the Indians."

Additional information: "In reference to the decree of your Excellency, stating that the Missionaries can administer the Sacraments to the Spaniards & to the "gente de razón (Indians) Without needing authority nor special permission, Reference is made to a Papal edict & the Pope does not need the consent of the Bishops to grant this dispension. Many religious authorities are quoted."

Additional information: "The Sr. Fiscal being informed of Joseph de Escandon's consultation concerning the doubts and difficulties of the Missionaries of Nuevo Santander, sent by your Excellency,as to the need for getting permission to administer the Holy Sacraments & preach to the Spaniards as well as to the natives,advises him that The Rev.Guardian & Discretorio of Sn. Fernando gives permission & consent."

Additional information: "As requested by the Sr. Fiscal,this expediente is being sent to Coronel Dn. Joseph de Escandon, so that he may transmit it to the missionaries for whom he requested clarification as to their doubts,as per his letter of Feb. 17th.,so that by virtue of the privileges & faculties granted by the Apostolic seat they may continue to perform their duties lest the new colonization be hindered."

Additional information: "The scribe states that this is a copy of the verbal statements made by Joseph de Escandon for the very Rev. Fr. Juan Bautizta Garzia Rasuarez Minister of the Villa de Camargo. The witnesses to the statements & Corrections were Fee. Rodriguez de Montemaior, Alferez Xristoval de Leon & Nicolas Rodriguez, resident of Nuevo Santander."
