WATSON ARREST
24 year old Charles D. Watson of Copeville, a small community
near AcKinneyis being held in Collin County jail this mornin;. Watson
was named yesterday in murder warrants in connection with the death
of actress Sharon Tate and four other persons at her California estate.
Two other suspects were named with Watson in the murder warrants.
Los Angeles Police Chief Edward Davis said he expedted a Los Angeles
County Grand Jury to indict four or five more persons.
Watson is being represented locally by attorney mill Boyd,
a former district attorney in Collin County. Boyd said the Watsons
are highly respected members of the community. Collin County sheriff
Tom Montgomery is a cousin of the accused man. Montgomery said he
telephoned the Watson residence when he heard of the warrant and Watson
voluntarily turned himself in.
Boyd said he would talk with Watsons parents before deciding
whether to fight extradition.
Two Los Angeles policemen arrived in McKinney yesterday afternoon.
