INJURED FIFTEEN PERSONS LAST NIGHT.
THE PLANE GROUND-LOOPED, AFTER LANDING IN A. DENSE FOG AT THE IL LEEN
AIRPORT N A FLIGHT FROM DALLAS.
ONLY ONE PERSON, THE CO-PILOT, WAS SER IOUSLY INJURED. BRAD LANE OF
KILLEEN WAS TAKEN TO A, TEMPLE HOSPITAL WITH A SEVERE BACK INJURY.
BESIDES THE CO-PILOT AND THE PILOT DAVID SIMMONS OF TEMPLE, ONLY
ONE CIVILIAN WAS ABOARD THE BEECH 39A AIRCRAFT. HE WAS DOCTOR WILLIAM
TANNER R THE 40-YEAR FOLD PRESIDENT OF NARY HARDIN-BAYLOR COLLEGE AT PEITON.
THE 12 OTHER PERSONS ON THE PLANE WERE ARMY PERSONNEL FROM NEARBY
FORT HOOD. ALL WERE KEPT OVERNIGHT AT THE BASE HOSPITAL. RUT A
SPOKESMAN SAID NONE APPEARED IN-SERIOUS CONDITION.
CONFLICTING REPORTS HAE BEEN ISSUED ONDAMAGE. BOARD CHAIRMAN OF
RIO AIRWAYS, TED CONNELL, SAID DAMAGE WAS LIGHT. BUT A WITNESS SAID
THE PLANE SPIT OPEN BEHIND THE WINGS. AND ANOTHER RIO SPOKESMAN SAID
THE 410,OOO-DOLLAR AIRCRAFT WAS. HEAVILY DAMAGED. .
