SCHOOL SUIT
A snit seeking to equalize finanical support
for public schools in "an Antonio opened today
before a panel of three federal jud-es.
The plaintiffs are 15-Mexican-American
parents and their children from the poor, predominate
Hexican-American Edgewood school district in San
Antonio.
They claim their constitutional rights have
been violated because of "the heavy reliance on local
property taxes by the Texas public School financing
system and th resilltant wide dosnarities in school
revenue per pupil."
Defendants include the State Board of Education,
state commissioner of education, J. 7. Edgar; and
the county school Board.
The suit was filed more than three years agobut has delayed several times.
