The Dallas Community Relations Oommission met last night
to discuss relati-nships between the TNxican Amrican Comriunity and taw
enforcement agencies.
In last riiht's me :ting the CRC lauded Dyson for his action
in imolementin2 the various rDeoom :nda ti- s, particulurly the efforts
in recruiting more I,xidan Am ric tn police officers.
The CRC sail tt f-rn3 no specific instances of misconduct
on the part of the Dnllas police and said it felt Dyson's action will
lead to improved relationships between the D,1las police and the i'exican
Americgn community.
Sheriff Clbrenc Jones didnot fare as well as Dyson in the
CRC's opinion. The renmr t said they rec, lived less co-operation from the
sheriff ani found wh t it called serious misconduct on the part of the
sheriff's department in at least one instance.
The CRC said it realizes that Jones is .ew ih office and said
it wants to work closely with lim in an effort tb im-grove community
rel tions.
