Governor Preston Smith is in the Nation's
capitol this evening mustering support for his
defiance of President Nixon's wage-price freeze...
he is
and preparing for an appearance on the nationally
televised program, "Face the Nation."
Smith to meet with Senators
John Tower and Lloyd Bentsen before he returns to
Texas tommorrow and hopefully recive some
sympathy and support for his position. He has
not recieved either very much of either here in
his homestate.
In fact, tommorrow morning's newspapers in
many Texas cities will be carrying editorials
art harshly criticizing the Governor's stand.
Many writers are attacking AFL-CIO President
George Meaney Jmxtkexsxme and Governor Smithin the same breath.
