Description

Video footage from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during the 9th annual "Black Music and the Civil Rights" concert held Sunday, January 19th 1992 at the Meyerson symphony center. The footage records the entire two hour concert featuring a 200-voice choir and Vickie Winans (appears in a pink suit). Speakers at the opening of the concert explain the focus of the music to be prayer, progress, and triumph. The performers wear all black clothing with a white noose hanging around their necks.
