million chicks, an increase of 13 percent
from both last year and the previous week.
Producers hatched 5.05 million chicks, 82
percent of the eggs set during the week of
October 18. The hatch was up 12 percent
from a year ago and 17 percent from last
week.
The weekly egg set increased 6 percent
from last year to 6.77 million eggs. The
set was up 9 percent from last week.We
