and faculty the opportunity to spend time together through travel. Shortly thereafter, the
Roamin' Rattlers travel group was created.
The trips encompass religious pilgrimages, business study trips, cruises, music and art
festivals and a vast array of other cultural experiences in more than 10 countries spanning
three continents.
Professors of the St. Mary's community dedicate their time and knowledge to the
Roamin' Rattler experience. Well-traveled faculty members offer their expertise and
knowledge of the countries to all who wish to take part in one of the guided trips.

Perry catalogs criminals
The Texas Data Exchange database
(TDEx) was originally developed to
catalog information on criminals and
potential terrorists. This database
was originally designed for the Texas
Department of Public Safety.
However, Gov. Rick Perry had it
moved to the Governor's Office of
Homeland Security.
The database contains more than
one million names from state and
local records. Names can be entered for
minor infractions such as traffic tickets.
The database will soon be expanded to
include records from federal angencies.
Critics question the appropriateness of
a political office controlling the database
as opposed to a law enforcement agencey.
