Traffic mishaps plagued
Llano county this past week, .listed as Jimmy Stephenson,
one accident resulting in the 17 of Llano; Pernell Coats, 21,
resulting
death of a seven year old girl
Micheal Houghton, 41, of
San Marcos was driving his
1980 Chevette east-bound on
Highway 71 at Field Creek,
some 21 miles west of Llano,
at approximately 7 p.rn. Wed-
nesday when he reportedly'fell
asleep at the wheel and ran the
car into a large tree. His niece,
Mary Grace Houghton, 7, of
Austin, suffered head injuries
of Llano; Tony Reitan, 18, of
Horseshoe Bay; and Russell
Rains, 21, of Joshua. Reitan
and Hohmann were admitted
to the hospital for observation.
Their condition was reported
as stable. The other three
passengers were treated and
released.

day, Dec. 30, a 1971 Toyota
Land-Cruiser Jeep west-bound
on Tx. Hwy. 965 (Enchanted
Rock Highway) hit a cow,
causing the driver to lose
control of the vehicle and turn
allegedly ran a red light at
Highways 16 and 29, colliding
with a 1980 Caprice driving by
Wayne Savage. 70, of Fort
Worth, then striking the par-

Stock And Bake
Show Set
The Stock and Bake Show
will be held Friday, Jan. 14,
at the Llano County Com-
munity Center and the
public is invited to come out
and view the entires around
12:30 or 1 p.m., depending
upon when judging is com-
pleted. A variety of cakes,
cookies, candies and breads
will be for sale.
The bake show is held
annually in connection with
the Llano County Junior
Livestock Show and is open
to all boys and girls enrol-
led in 4-H or high school,
homemaking classes, ac-
cording to Llano County
Extension Agent Marilyn
Hale. The entries are
usually very high quality.
The bake show give young
people a chance to show off
their baking skills and the
public is encouraged to
support them in their ef-,
fort.

—A hunting accident at the
Weed Ranch on Bush Road on
the afternoon of Jan, 2 caused
Ronald E. Combs of Canton,
Texas to be flown from the
Llano Memorial Hospital to a
hospital in Dallas. Combs was
hunting with his son, Timmy,
when the boy’s .30-30 rifle
discharged, hitting Combs in
the upper back right thigh.

reiterated that the hospital is

Feb. II--One and one-half
sticks of dynamite, four caps
and about ten feet of fuse were
found in a vacant house on
Paradise Point. Members of
the Tow Volunteer Fire Dept,
and Bof). Cowart, constable,
investigated the explosives at
the old Easley residence be-
fore they were transported to
the Tow VFD station.
—Two Llanoans were hono-
red guests at the centennial
celebration of the Texas State
Capitol in Austin. Mrs. Linda
Faye Reed, granddaughter of
Frank Teich who designed the
capitol and helped build it, and
Sarah Franklin, chairman of
the historical commission,

passed a plan for the elemen-

and 14 FFA members from
Llano participated in the 1982
Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo.
—The city of Llano received
$28,582.64 from the state
comptroller’s office for its part
in the one percent local sales
tax rebate.
—The Ljano PTO sponsored
tree and bush plantings last
week at the Llano schools. This
program is sponsored annually
in observance of Arbor Day

were present at the Chamber
of Commerce banquet last
Friday night to hear U.S.
Senator Lloyd Bentsen speak

Hospitalized
On the evening of Wednes-
day, Dec. 29, Our publisher.
Hal Cunningham, was admit-
ted to the intensive care unit of
Llano Memorial Hospital fol-
lowing some chest pains and
breathing difficulties. We are
happy, to report that last
Monday he was removed from
the intensive care unit and is
now ambulatory and repor-
tedly feeling much better. He
is not receiving visitors at his
hospital room, number four.
We at the Llano News wish
Hal a speedy recovery and
hope that he will be rejoining
us soon. y.
