The Baylor Affrefatton Again
Defeated by the THaity Team.
"She* ae the way to go hem* plea»».
âbo» me the waj to go home :
For we'\e been beat in the Ia*t three gases
8how ae the war to go home. '
On lait Saturday afternoon Bay-
lor again went down in defeat be-
fore the white stockinged agréga-
tion of ball tosser» who hail from
Trinity. The game like the pre-
ceeding one was a well played con-
test and showed good team work on
both side*. Four cotton legged
Trinitonians successfully made the
circuit of the bases while one lonely ;
tally kept a large goose egg from
being marked up against Baylor.
Big Bruce Templeton appeared
on the slab for Trinity and dished
out α nice assortment or dinky balls
to Baylor letting them down with
thre» hits. He seemed to have no
ffar of the flagging ability of the
boys from Waco appearing to have
great confidence in his support and
this confidence was not misplaced
for the Trinitv boys made good in
every inning but the first when
Baylor made their onlv run from a
combination ot errors.
Coffin an the delicate looking
twirler who hangs his iiat up at
Baird tossed them over for Baylor
and ever and anon watched the hail
with hungry eyes as some maroon-
uniformed willow-wieid*>r with his
favorite stick directed the sphere
just wh«*re no Baylor man chanced
to stand. Nin* times during the
a-am* did Trinity connect safely with
his hand outs. In addition his sup-
port was rather ragged.
The Ktm«· was played as follows:
McKay led off by hitting the flret
)>a)l pitched through the hand· of a
Trinity out-fielder and made the
circuit of bases on the error. After
that they went d>>wu in one tw<>
three order.
Trinity bunch·· ! hit» in the sixth
and seventh innings and aiaed by
errors sent two men across the
plate m each inning. This was the
extent of the run getting.
In the ninth inning with one man
out Baylor made a bold bid for
the r&me. Wilcox succeeded in
making it to second. "Weary Wil-
lie Coffy" uow appeared in the bat-
ter'» box and gave his farewell per-
formance. With his smile* of con-
fidence gone he tore great holes in
tbe atmosphere in a vain endeavor
to "park" the ball. But the best he
could do was to lift a little Infield
fly on which Wilcox was doubled at
Second.
Trinity will play Austin college
here the latter part of this week.
The games will be of special inter-
est as Austin college has a strong
team however the Trinity boy* are
as usual confident of victory. Time
of game ">(l minutes following is
the line-up.

DEATH OF FRANK TEMPLETS!
He Was an Early Settler o! Ellis
County.
By the death of Frank Templet on
which ocarred at Ennii Saturday af-
ternoon mention of which was made
in these columns another pioneer
■ettler of Ellia county has passad
from the walks of men.
Mr. Templeton was born at Stock-
ton Mo. April 26 1843. He was
educated in the schools at Necsho
aad in his youth was apprenticed to
learn the printer's trade in the office
of the Neosho Chief. In 1SG0 he
came to Texas and spent a year at
Fort Worth. In ISfil he returned to
Missouri and enliEted in the Mis-
souri State Ouard under General
Price for one year. Afterward he
joined Company F Third Alabama
Cavalry and participated in many
of the most noted engagements un-
der Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. He
was wounded at New Hope church
and again in Tennessee but was on
duty at the time of the surrender.
After the cessation of hostilities
he returned to the home of his
father who had in 18GI moved to
Ellis county. After remaining at
home awhile Mr. Templeton estab-
lished the Waxahachie Weekly Ar-
gus the first newspaper published
in Ellis county. His printing out-
fit was ordered from New Orleans.
After conducting the Argus two
years he sold out to James Shaw
and turned his attention to agri- ι
cultural pursuits. At the time of ]
his death he owned extensive farm- ■
ing lauds near Ennis.
Mr. Templeton was broad minded
and liberal in his views and was one
of Ellis county's most public spirit-
ed citizens.

Pure Fruit
Soda Water
Flavors
We can buy flavors
that do not contain any
fruit at all. They are
made up of chemicals
that resemble in appear-
ance and taste the real
fruit flavors.
But we make our own
fruit flavors out of fresh
fruit. All our flavors are
absolutely pure and
wholesopne.
That ih on^Teason why
our sod> water is so de-
licious àlfd healthful. It
is why so many parents
bring their children here
to drink.
Furthermore we make
our own Ice Cream and
know that it also is pure
and rich. If you want

THE PROTRACTED MEETING
Church Could Not Accommodate
the People Last Night.
A good audience assembled at the
Main Street Christian church on
Saturday night to attend the gospel-
in-song service and there was one
addition to the church. Yesterday
morning the attendance was some-
what interfered with by the weather
although there was a good audience.
Last night there were more people
than the house could accommodate.
Chairs were put in every available
place a number stood and still
there were those who were turned
away. There have been thus far
four additions to the church and the
attendance and attention manifest
much interest in the subjects that
are being presented. Tenight there
will be baptizing after the sermon.
Last night after the song service
and a solo by Mr. Brower which
were very much enjoyed Mr. Mc-
pherson spoke on "The Creed of
the Old Time Religion." He re-
ceived the closest attention through-
out the sermon. We will not at-
tempt an outline of the subject here.
The subjects announced are aK fol-
lows :
Tonight—How men get the Old
Time Religion.
Tuesday—Faith according to the
Old Time Religion.
Wednesday—Repentance accord-
ing 10 Old Time Religion.
Thursday —Baptism according to
Old Time Religion.
Friday—The church of the Old
Time Religion.
oaiuruay -ιυ of* anuouncea.
Sunday 11 h. tn.—The man of Gal-
ilee 8 p. m. Almost Persuaded.
On the reverse side of the cards
announcing the above subjects and
which were distributed last night is
the following: "We try to teach
the Old Time Religion. We believe
it is just what the world needs."
In speaking of this today Pastor
McPherson said:
"By this we do not mean that in
our appliance we must not use any
modern methods. But we do mean
that the Religion its Faith its
Ordinances its Like should never
change unless this is done by the
authority of Jesus Christ. The
I church guided by the Holy Spirit
was united; we believe it should be
so united today. It had no man-
made creed; we believe that we
should have none. It accepted only
the names given by the Holy Spirit;
we believe that we should wear no
other. It preached as conditions
of pardon only what the Savior
commanded; we accept no other
It practiced only one baptism we
know but one. In matters of mere
opinion it gave the largest liberty;
ehould not we grant the same? We
Invite you to hear the series of ser-
mon» on Old Time Religion."
Ellis Visited by Rain.
Ellis county has been visited by
a much needed rain. A light show-
er fell yesterday morning and today
about noon the downpour was quite
j heavy. From indications the rain
was general over the county and will
be of untold benefit io crops. Youug
corn and cotton received a setback
by the recent frost and cold spell
but they will soon recover and be-
gin growing rapidly. The farmers
are very much encouraged over the
present outlook for a big crop of all
kinds.
