Real Christian Integrity
The minister ought to make
..jse with whom he is dealing
alize that he holds the integri-
of souls higher than any oth
kind of prosperity; higher
[i;in fortune wealth social po-
tion— than any other kind of
urcess. I believe as the pro-
undest philosophy in the world
at only integrity can bring
klvation or satisfaction can
• ing happiness; that no amount
fortune can in a man's own
mscintiousness atone for a
^t integrity of the soul. Be-
>nd questions a minister lets
)wn all the levels of morality
th<* world by compromizing
:111 his own or any other man's
• ucience. The mora! levels of
i<" world are to be maintained
him. or they will collapse
ith a general subsidence of all
i it is st*1 at!fast in tin* universe
If you are going to admit fear
into your calculations then the
world is infinitely imperilled.
The church is the mentor of
righteosness and the minister
must be the exemplar of right-
eous ness.—Wood row Wi 1 son.

FARM FACTS
(Uy l'eter Radford Prfgulrrit K*rm.-r*
Union.)
When honesty is merely a good
policy it is a j>oor virtue.
Lazy farmers are just as use-
less as dead ones and take up
more rcx>m.
There are two kinds of farm-
ers. One tries to take all the ad-
vice he hears and the other won't
take ary at all.
Agriculture is as old as Me-
thuselah and is just now cutting
its wisdom teeth.
In every field of activity the
demand for more comi>etent
men and women is growing eve-
ry day. Especially so «in agri-
culture.
A successful farmer must at
least possess three virtues—hon-
esty energy and economy.
Whatever change the tenant
farmer makes it is bound to be
for the better—it couldn't be for
the worse.
Education is a developing of
the mind not a stuffing of the
memory. Digest what you read.
Old men have visions young
men have dreams. Successful
farmers plow dee]) while the
sluggards sleep.
Home pride is a mighty valu-
able asset and the farmer who
has none is carrying a heavy
handicap on the road to success.
The soil is like a man's bank ac-
count. It can soon be exhausted
by withdrawing and never de-
positing.
The growing of legumes will
retard soil depletion and greatly
add to its power to produce.
It is an established fact that
legislation regulating the hours
of a farmer's work has never
been suggested. Neither has a
vice commision been appointed
to see why farmers' boys leave
home.
Ben Franklin had in mind good
roads when he said: "If time
be of all. things the most preci-
ous wasting time must be the
greatest prodigality."

Immense Preparations Beinf Bile at
Chattanooga to Entertain Cm-
Federate Veterans This
Month.
Chattanooga Tenn. May 4.—
In com mem oration of the
bloody battle at Chickamagna 50
years ago Chattanooga announ-
ces perfection of the plans for
entertainment of the United
Confederate Veterans and the
Sons who will hold their 23rd
annual reunion May *27-29. High
officials of the G A. R. state
that Chattanooga's expenitures
for entertainment and amuse
ment etc. will be on a more
lavish scale than was ever neces
sary for their meeting even
surpassing the high water mark
at Los Angeles.
It is expected in Chattanooga
that upward of 12(XX) veterans
will be present all of whom will
be tendered free lodging at
Camp Alexander I'. Stewart.
Some fellow with a love for sta-
tistics has figured that this
means the service ot 111000
free meals in the course of four
clays. The requisite number of
Goverment tents and cots have
been loaned by the War Depart-
ment. The year 1913 will per-
haps mark the last pilgrimage
of the most of the veterans of
1 to ground made sacrcd by
the heroes of the Blue and Gray
on the heights and in the shad-
ow of Lookout Mountain.
Brain Leaks

TWENTY BLUSHING BRIBES
From Scotland and Iroland Married
at EUU Island.
New Vork May 5.—Twenty
blusihiug brides ran down the
gang plank of the steamship
California t .day into the arms
of twenty waiting and eager
bridegrooms. Gladness reigned
until the immigeation authori-
ties found that eight of the girls
could not prove their identity
and them that they *ould not re-
main until they were married at
Ellis Island the immigration
dstention station When the
other twelve heard this they
said they would all stand togeth-
er and the twenty couples left
for the island to find a clergyman
The prosi>ective brides came
from Scotland and Ireland and
the immigration authorities said
they were the prettiest as well
as the largest company that ever
came here to be married.
And The Preacher Bit
When a person nets something
for nothing the something usu-
ally contains a joke or lias a
striug tied to it. For instance
a certain preacher received from
a iHitent medicing company an
offer to provide his church with
song boo lis free of charge. It
was explained that there would
be a few ads. in the front and
back of the book but these ads
would not be offensive to his
congregation and since he could
get them for nothing ordered a
supply. He found the ads mildly
worded and decided to use the
books. He explained from the
pulpit how the books had been
secured and announced that
they would sing No. 275. Im-
agine the people's surprise when
reaching the second verse they
found themselves singing "Hark
the heavenly angels sing John
son's pills are just the thing
Angelic voices meek and mild
Two for men and one for child."
