for Saturday Night
Announcement has been made
that the Bandera School I I A
Rodeo- will be held at the
Recreation Center on Saturday
night. May 30. 1 970-stafttmg at 8
pan. Those who plan to enter the
events must have their entry
blanks in by Friday, May.29.
This year- no barbecue supper
will be held due to the tact that
other activities will be held in the
Recreation Center Hall, however
there will be a Concession stand.
Everyone is cordially invited to
turn out and support the Bandera

Events will include calf roping,
steer riding, bull riding, pole
bending, • barrel Facing, calf
tie-down, calf scramble, saddle
relay, ribbons ropififg, rawhide ski
race, double mugging, tie-down
steer roping, and other thrilling
events.
Calves in the double mugging
and ribbon roping will be roped
-Xcnm. a-hnrse. Each contestant will
be able to enter any of the partner
events only one time. There will
be no stock fee. Each contestant
will be charged gate admission.
Contestants cannot enter over six
events.
, If there is less than five entered
in any one event, first place points
cannot be earned. Example-Three
are in the bull riding over, 14, the
first, place will earn six points
instead of the usual 10 points.

Mrs. Lillian Whitehead
introduced Debra and her mother
and Mrs. Ruth Brady, president of
the B&PW Club, presented Debra
a check from the Club’s
Scholarship Fund. This will be
used toward her books and other
expenses connected with her
education.
The Club earns this fund by it’s
annual “Tourana.”
New officers were elected for
the coming year as follows: Mrs.
Thelma Jureczki, president: Mrs..
Frances Shear, first vice-president;
Mrs. Vercella Evans, second
vice-president; Mrs. Pat Price,
recording secretary; Mrs. Ruth
Brady, treasurer; Mrs. Norma
.Gray, corresponding secretary.
Mrs. Annie Andcrwald was
appointed historian and Mrs.
Dorothy Darden, parliamentarian.
The club is sending Mrs. Ruth
Brady and Mrs. Thelma Jureczki
as delegates to the convention'in
Amarillo. They will leave June 11
by chartered bus together with
San Antonio and Kcrrville Clubs.
In the aftcrhoofi at 6 o’clock
the Chorus will present their
“Sermon in Song” at the Medina
College Avenue ChuTeli of Christ.
Gene Helm, able director, will
direct both services.
The public, is cordially invited
to attend both the Bandera and
Medina services. "

find something to do.
The youth l am talking to arc
college and high school young
adults. Of course, many of you
will find a job to keep some of
your time occupied but what
about the days you won’t work?
Wouldn’t , you like to see your
;ltiends during the rummer? There
is absolutely no reason why a
bunch of us cannot get together a
few times a week and do
something or just exchange news.
This is not addressed to only a
"few, unless only a few of you kids
out there care about your life. If
you don’t want to learn what
others think and do: if you simply
want to sit at home all summer
and waste three of the best^
months of your life, this is not for
vou. Those of ypu who want to

Many friends here will learn
with sorrow of the death of C. W.
Redman, one of this community’s
best loved gentlemen, Mr.
Redman who resided in Houston
where his home was, spent much
time here in Bandera through the
years and had endeared himself to
all who knew him. He passed
away in Houston Tuesday.
Funeral services will -be held in
Houston Thursday, May . 28 at
11:30 a.m. from the George Lewis
Funeral Parlors.

Thursday. May 21. Frank M.
Montague. Jr.. was elected
president and director. as
announced by the Chamber of
Commerce secretary-, today.
Mr. Montague is also a director
and chairman of the board of
directors of the First National
Bank of Bandera, and continues
to operate a working ranch and
guest ranch in Bandera County.
He is active in civic and social
affairs of the county and is
chairman of the Bandera Bov
