Notes

Text on back: " Sam Bass Gave, Round Rock, Tex. This notorious train and bank robber of the 1870s was killed in this little city by Texas Rangers in 1978. Souvenir hunters from all over the U.S. and many other countries have almost chipped away the stone. A move has been started recently to erect a new stone- possibly this year."

"This is more than likely the original tombstone. The date of the postcard or the picture are unknown. However, the printer, National Press, was active between 1949-1955. The Sam Bass Café was open in the 1940s and 1950s. The number in the right hand corner , '4363399', is an identification number created by Round Rock Public Library."
