Comptroller Susan Combs
announced that the state collect-
ed $1.65 bilTion in sales tax rev-
enue in December, down 11.6
percent compared to December
2009.

lections, beginning in Febru-
ary 2009, have now extended
through December 2009," Combs
said. “As has been seen the past
several months, collections ujf
down across most major sectors
of the Texas economy, including
oil and natural gas, construc-
tion, manufacturing and retail
trade. It is expected the double-
digit declines in tax collections
seen over the last half-year will
first moderate with collections
returning to growth during the
first or second quarter of 2010.”

Jimmie Day and 1 am a candi-
.date for the office of Commis-
sioner Precinct 4 in the Demo-
cratic Primary.
My wife. Pat Day, and 1 moved
to Rains County approximately
15 years ago after I retired from
the Comanche Peak Steam Elec-
tric Station nuclear power plant
where 1 was a security shift
supervisor.
1 am currently employed
by the Rains County Sheriff s
Department, serving for seven
years as a jailer/dispatcher and
for the past three years as the
Court Bailiff to four different
judges. When not on duty in
court, 1 supervise work crews
of trustees from the county jail
who work on county roads and
help with maintenance of county
buildings.
My past work and love of
Rains County gives ule the
ledge and ability to do a

missioner for Precinct 4. It is the
pride in my family of five chil-
dren and five grandchildren that
drives me to help make Precinct
4 the best it can be for your fam-
