SANTA FE SHOP MEN
APPLY FOR S12.090
IN ''LIBERTY BONOS"
J. E. Symons, master mechanic of the
Hnnta Ko shops, and Messrs. Weilcr,
Isdiinann, Mudge and other local offl
rials of the company, passed among the
shop employes Wednesday and secured
applications for 49,000 worth of liberty
bonds. It is understood other Santa
Ke employes have subscribed for $.1,000
worth of the bonds, making the total
about 412,000. It Is likely that still
other departments will take some of the
bonds and the total amount may yet go
to 415,000 or 420,000.
Master Mechanic Symons has taken
a very nrtivr part in getting the men
to see the advantage of subscribing
for these bonds. While the general in-
terest is low, yet no safer Investment
could be made. The Santa Fe company
is aiding the men in every possible
way. One tenth of the purchase value
of the hond* ia deducted from the em-
ploye’s cheek each month, until the
bonds are paid for. It will take con-
siderable bookkeeping for the clerical
department of the company, hut it will
be a great aid to the men in taking
care of their bondn . Uncle Ham In now

raise money. Those who take these
bonds will help to win the war.
