to school in Ballinger for thr last

ball. tennis, dancing, swimming,

In college when she graduates.

Chib for New Year
The Ballinger Civic-Oarden Club
held its first meeting of the new
year Tuesday afternoon at the
city hall with fifty members
present. A message was read by
the president from the Philadel-
phia Oarden Club urging that
club activities be continued with
a well-rounded program during
the year.
Announcement was made that
crepe myrtles would be replaced
in spring planting here. This has
been adopted as the Ballinger
flowering shrub and many have
been planted during the past two
years.
Miss Myra Tankersley was the
principal speaker Tuesday, dis-
cussing victory gardens. She said
the world was food conscious,
vitamin conscious and nutrition
conscious She explained nutri-
tion and what It means, stating
that one-third of the world was
undernourished.
An Invitation was extended to
garden club members to visit and
Inspect the frame garden at the
Cameron Lumber Co. office and
a little late the tub garden on the
court house lawn. In this will
also be a strawberry barrel with
plants growing. Miss Tankersley
concluded her remarks on destruc-
tive Insects and methods of con-
trolling them
Mrs. B. Frasier gave an Inter-
esting talk from experience on
when and what to plant and to
make and use canvass hose.
Mrs. Oscar Pearson spoke on
what to plant In March with a
large part of her remarks on
chrysanthemums.
The exhibit committee had on
display a centerpiece of Japonic*
blossoms with Japanese girl figure
In the center on a colorful cloth
Other exhibits included a potted
asalea grown by Mrs Oeorge Hol-
man, a pink camellia grown by
Mrs. E M Lynn, and a straw
basket of vegetables.
