First Baptist Society Observes
Home Missions Week of Prayer
The annual observance of the
Week of Prayer for home missions
and the Annie Armstrong offering
was made at three services this
week by the Woman's Missionary
8oc!ety of the First Baptist
Church.
Of particular Interest were the
technicolor slides shown Sunday
evening. A comprehensive pic-
ture was given of the work among
our Mexican a. Chinese, deaf,
Indiana, Italians, mountains,
negroes, rescue missions, and good
will centers; also the work in
soldier camps in the Southland
and Cuba.
On Monday afternoon. Mrs E. P
Talbott, missions chairman of
Circle One. was leader and Mrs
B. C. Kirk gave the devotional

"God Bless Our Country.” and
“Ood's Channels of Blessings."

Special music was a solo on

guests of honor by Harmanettes
Tuesday evening when Mrs. Roy
Maddox was hostess In her home
In Winters.
After the routine business ses-
sion, conducted by Mrs Melba
Lincoln, other guests played
bridge, as Mias Osborn was
required to work a Jig-saw puxxle.
This proved to be the clue for
the hiding place of a shower of
lovely bathroom gifts.
Sandwiches were served with

Mmes. W. J. Hembree and
Cumble Ivey were hostesses to the
Baptist Naomi Class Monday eve-
ning In the Hembree home on
Seventh Street.
Mrs. J. H. Endacott presided
over the business period following
the devotional on stewardship by
Mrs. Vivian Marshall It was
voted to make a donation to the
War-phan fund, which Is a relief
agency for Chinese war orphans
After games of 42 and 'dig.'' a
dessert course was served In the
St Patrick's Day theme with
small silk shamrocks favors.

Music Club Meets In Halley Home
The Ballinger Music Club held
Its March meeting Tuesday eve-
ning In the Fifth Street home of
Mrs W B. Halley.
Japonlca blossoms In a low
formal arrangement with a Jap-
anese girl figurine, and potted
plants decked the reception suite.
With Mrs Halley at the piano,
the Star Spangled Banner was
sung In unison. During the busi-
ness meeting, conducted by Mrs.
Alex McOregor. officers and com-
mittee reports were heard. A
nominating committee. Mmes A.
B. Stobaugh. Troy Simpson, and
Miss Hattie Mae Dunlap, was
appointed. Announcements were
made regarding national music
week In May by Miss Carmen
Demmer, and the Rublnoff con-
cert March 22.
