students, Joe Langford. Jr. and

the 17 student to be so honored
at this year's area presentation
program. Joe is the eon of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Langford of Gold-
thwalte and Gayla to the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. James M.
Green of Mullin.

The program was started last
year with awards being made oh
a regional basis. Last year a-
wards program for this area was
held in Brownwood.
Students are nominated for
this honor by their respective
schools before selection to made.

total credits at end of junior
year, honors received In High
School and Community, offices
held tn High School and Com-
munity Groups and list of ac-
complishments of special note
The meeting will be held at
7:30 p. m. In the Ag Building
and all members and friends

This benefit auction sale will
be held on the same day as the
Democratic Primary Election to
give residents of Goldthwalte
and Mills County something

Vance Cornelius was re-elect-
ed county board member from
commissioner's precinct one
with 99 votes. Carylon Wall was
re-elected from commissioner's
precinct two with 18 votes and
J. D. Berry received 15 votes and
was re-elected from commis-
sioner’s precinct four. All three
were un-oppoeed in their bid
for re-election

Loy Long, chairman of the
local Salvation, Army Service
Unit, has announced that Nor-
man Duren has been named the
campaign chairman for this
year’s drive.
This year's campaign will
start next Thursday, April 16,
1970 with a 7:00 a. m. breakfast
for all captains and workers at
McLean’s Restaurant. The goal
for this year to 31,200 for Mills
County.
The money collected during
this campaign will be used lo-
cally to help the needy. The
local aid will be given in the

The main topic for discussion
was the expansion of the li-
brary. Due to Mr. R. G. Hol-
lingsworth who started the ex-
pansion fund, the people of
Mills County have become in-
terested to the extent of con-
tributing some 81,400 to the
library fund. A committee was
appointed to investigate the
needs of improvement and ex-
pansion and the amount of
money needed for this cause.
The committee members are
Judge Cecil Egger, W. P. Duren,
E. B. Gilliam Jr., W. C. Barnett
and Ray Duren. -
The Board agreed that a his-
tory of the library should be
prepared. After much research,
Mrs. J. A. Heater has written
the history of the library from
Its beginning up to. the time the
Jennie Trent Dew Library was
built. The Board stressed the
fact that there to a need for a
volunteer to complete the his-
tory.

rent, medicine, medical aid or
any other aid deemed necessary
by the local committee. In ad-
dition to the local aid, part of
the money to used to support
the state agencies which are
available to everyone. Some of
the state agencies are: disaster
canteens, summer camps for
boys, home and hospital for un-
wed mothers, centers for re-
habilitation of alcoholics, home
for the elderly and many other
services for the people of Texas.
Mr. Duren asks the aid of all
the people of Mills County in
this vety worthwhile endeavor.
He further stated that every-
one’s help to needed to carry on
the assistance to the unfortu-
nate of this area and the state
of Texas.
Those serving on the commit-
tee with Mr. Long are Lewis
Hudson, vice chairman; Mrs.
Zelda Johnson, treasurer; W. P.
Duren, welfare secretary; Glynn
Collier. Ray Duren. Gerald
Head. Sheriff Horace Brooks,
Hollis Blackwell, and Rev. Dale
Gore, all members.

Representatives from three
companies who manufacture
band uniforms presented infor-
mation and samples of uni-
formq, Mr. Tom Brittain of Ost-
wald Company was authorised
to make a uniform according to
Mills County Judge Cecil Eg-
ger Tuesday morning announc-
ed election returns for school
trustees In Goldthwalte, Mullin,
Star and Priddy districts and
county board members.
School trustee elections were
held last Saturday, April 4.
Voter turnout was Ught in all
four districts with a choice of
voters in some districts while
there was no contest in others.
Mullin and Priddy had four
candidates on the ballot tor the
two places to be filled, Goldth-
walte had three candidates
with two to be elected and Star
had two candidates with no
contest. There was no contest,
for any of the three place*
open on the county board.
Two trustees were elected in
each of the four districts for a
regular three year term while
three members were elected to
the County School Board for a
regular two year term.
Following are the results as
announced by Judge Egger.
GOLDTHWAITE
In Goldthwalte Charles W.
Hill and Elmo Watson were
elected. Votes were cast as fol-
lows: Charles W. Hill 88. Robert
C. McCoy 56. Elmo Watson 104.
LeRoy Miller received 5 write-in
votes.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Hamilton of Evant wll) ^observe their 50th
wedding anniversary with a reception Sunday, April 12, 1970, from
2:00 until 4:00 p. m. at their home. Their son, Robert N. Hamilton

The Hamiltons were married April 7. 1920 in Star. Mrs. Ham-
