Cutlines — A living manger
scene will again this year be
produced on the Goldthwaite
courthouse square sponsored by
the Mills County Ministerial
Association with the coopera-
tion of a number of Mills Coun-
ty Churches. The production
will be on the Northeast cor-
ner of the square Saturday
through next Thursday nights.
Hollis Blackwell, who with
Mrs. Blackwell and Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Kirby, made a six
weeks tour of Europe this sum-
mer, showed a fine selection of
colored slides taken on their
trip, to the Lions Club meeting
Tuesday night at the Legion
Hall.
The A&M Photo Shop of Col-
lege Station will be at the Gold-
thwaite Inn on Saturday, De-
cember 19 from 12:00 noon to
7:00 p. m. Those people holding
certificates issued for last Sat-
urday are asked to call during
the appointed hours this week.
A President’s Seminar of the
Farm Bureau was held at the
American Legion Hall In Gold-
thwaite Wednesday, December
9, with J. D. Jordan, Field Rep-
resentative, of Mason, In charge.

Homer and Elmo Doggett,
who have had charge of the
Magnolia service station, corner
of Fisher and Second Streets,
this year, have been transferred
to Ballinger by the Magnolia
Company, and given the man-
agement of a large and pros-
perous station at that place.
They have made a success of
the business here, as Indicated
by the act of the company In
placing them In charge of a
large business, and their friends
expect still further advance-
ment for them.
The building owned by Mrs.
Gartman, formerly occupied by
John Starnes’ gargae. has been
condemned by the city and was
sold for barns, is tom away
and the materil all being re-
moved. This will be a decided
Improvement to that street. It
will decrease the danger of fire
to a great extent.
The committees are at work
on the Christmas program to
be at the Methodist Church. A
good old Santa will be there
and he would love to see every
little boy and girl in this dis-
trict on the night of Christmas
Eve and have a merry time.
Christmas holidays will begin
officially In .Texas after the
close of business December 23
and continue until December 30.
This Is the holiday period fixed
by the state board of control
for state offices and Institutions
under their direction.

above zero Wednesday night
and while yesterday wax bright
and clear, it was still very cold.
It is hoped the weather will

Christmas shopping.
A car load of State-Certified
Mebane cotton seed has been
ordered for Mills County farm-
ers and a “one variety gin” will
operate exclusively for this crop.

All green pea canners are be-
ing offered 18,163 cases of gov-
enrment-owned peas from the
1942 pack no longer needed for
war requirements, according to
C. B. Hodges, District Represen-
tative, WFA’s Office of Distri-
bution, Austin.
Cotton iarmers are not re-
quired to pay CCC purchasing
agents any fee for preparation
of sales documents used in the
1944 cotton purchase program,
the War Food Admislstratlon
has announced.
The Schubert Club, directed
by Mrs. Letruce Sullivan, pre-
sented a cantata entitled “The
First Christmas,” at the First
Baptist Church of San Saba, on
Sunday, December 10 ‘

cussing the 1945 AAA Program
and the election of Community
