Another fact to remember is that
an 18-year-old in uniform is under the
command of someone who tells him
what to do; when he votes he is on his
own and hto personal judgment is his
guide. There are exceptions, but gen- ,t
erally speaking, good judgment comes
with maturity.
And finally, let’s hope and pray that
we shall not always be at war — eith-
er hot or cold. Let’s therefore be wary
of passing legislation based on a sen-
timental appeal nurtured in the at-
mosphere of war. Voting requirements
are supposedly permanent; war is sup-
