The market price of cotton gained
$30 a bale during the last week.
.Most of this remarkable gain was
.aid to have been due to the govern
ment’s cotton crop report issued Sep
tember 1.
There was great excitement on the
cotton exchange here today. With an
exceptionally large volume of trading
the market rose from $H to $10 a
bale.
Old cClton traders said that the
late forward movement was the most
remarkable in the history of cotton
trading.
Since June cotton has risen from
11 1-4 cents a pound to 22 14 cents
a psund. a gain of $55 a bale in ten
