BAYTOWN — Baytonians will be joining others nation-
wide today in a day of prayer.
For the first time, the Bay Area Ministerial Alliance, a group
of 44 local churches, is inviting the community out to Baytown
City Hall, 2401 Market St., at 12:20 p.m. to pray for the nation,
community, media, educational system, churches and family.
The alliance also is sponsoring its second annual day of
prayer church service at 7 p.m. today at First Baptist Church,
505 Rollingbrook Drive. The alliance is expecting a couple
hundred people at each local prayer event.
Mayor Calvin Mundinger will read the state proclamation
encouraging all Americans to pray, and various church leaders
will say prayers. The First Baptist Church’s praise band also
will perform.

BAYTOWN —A lot of things can happen in 10
years, and if you don’t believe it, all you have to do
is look at the Sterling High School
softball program. Since its incep-
tion in 1995, the Lady Rangers
have gone from newcomers to a
full-fledged juggernaut, devouring
opponents and racking up district
titles on a regular basis.
