iltwyck School for Boys in tribute to Johnny Carson to be held on Sunday
vening, March 14, 1971, in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria in
ew York City, when Johnny will be designated the "Wiltwyck Man of the
ear" for his devoted support and generous contribution to the School over
ie years.
ounded by Eleanor Roosevelt 34 years ago, Wiltwyck is one of the nation's
>remost residential treatment centers for severely emotionally disturbed
Sys. It cares for these innocent casualties of our inner city turmoil by
driving to redirect their often angry, anti-social behavior toward a more
constructive way of life. This eminently worthy program deserves the
support of all of us.
I would be grateful if you would lend your support by agreeing to serve as a
member of the Dinner Committee. A number of prominent citizens have
already agreed to do so: the Honorable Perle Mesta, Bernard J. Lasker,
Don Durgin, Jack Benny and Ed Sullivan. At this event we will have the
opportunity to support a uniquely humane and successful program, pay
tribute to an exceptional man, and enjoy a gala evening of entertainment by
some of our most gifted T-V, screen and stage artists.
I would appreciate it if you would return the enclosed card to me as soon as
possible, indicating that we may list your name as a member of the Dinner
Committee.
Sincerely,
Herman W. Lay
General Chairman
