Governor Harriman has called for its repeal by the city of New York,
regulation, he said, had led retailers to limit supplies because they could

of milk.
To increase the sale of milk, processors need to reduce costs—not be
required by a law to increase them without valid reason.
Dating of milk is wasteful, outdated and burdensome regulation. The USPH
Milk Ordinance and Code does not require it. The few cities still requiring
it are in the process of repealing their ordinances.
It is not a public health measure. Modern refrigeration and pasteurization
itself has eliminated the need for the dating rule as a health precaution.
', I feel sure that the gentleman
who introduced this bill evidently is not very familiar with conditions
prevalent in the dairy business. I sincerely hope you will use your
influence to defeat this bill.
