OOR SUMMER VACAliON?
With Elm Fork of the Trinity River practically bank full Monday
morning from the hard rains of Saturday night and Sunday morning
on the upper watersheds and the creek still rising when the rains fell
Monday morning, it is thought the bottoms may be overflowed during
Monday night. There have been hard rain* between Whitesboro and
Wichita Falls and much of this water feeds into Elm Fork.
The rainfall in Denton was 1.17 inches at 1 o’clock Monday aad at
Ponder at 7 o'clock it was .66 inch. Because of the recent rains the
ground is absorbing but little of the water and moet of it 1* finding its
way into the creeks.
A rain that was described as the hardest of this year fell at Sanger
Sunday morning and was accompanied by a hard hail that lasted for ten
minutes, but did little damage to the crop*.
During the hard wind in Denton Monday morning a tree top wa*
blown onto the home of Mr. Harrell on North Ixicust Street and the
fence about hi* garden was blown down. The wind al*o broke the top*
out of several tree* on North Elm Street.
Torrential rain* have fallen in the past twelve hour* between Gaines-
ville and Wichita Falls, according to report* received here by the T. ft
P. division offices. Heavy rains are reported along the entire division,
but as yet no washouts have occurred on the.T. & P. line*.
A washout on the M. K. ft T. between Denison and Whitesboro hag
necessitated detouring of all Katy trains by way of Sherman, on the
T. & P. tracks.
