testimony of state witnesses in the
trial of John Leach, charged with
murdering E. Kohlberg, a rich lo-
cal mercant on June 17, was re-
sumed this morning.

Denton presbtery held its second
day's meeting Thursday from 8:20
till 12 o'clock. The pastoral relation
between Rev. A. F. Heitman and the
Denton church wag declared dissolv-
ed and a letter or dismissal and rec-
ommendation wa, granted him to
the Pari, presbytery.
The meeting was brought to or-
der by the moderator and opened
with prayer. Half an hour was
. spent in exercises, roll was called
and the absentees noted. The min
i utes of Wednesday were read and
approved. Rev. J, J. Richardson was
appointed to moderate the Denton
church session and Rev. J. J. Moore
was appointed to preach in the pul-
pij and declare the church vacant.
Committee on ministerial relief
presented its report.. which was
adopted. The committee on syste-
matic beneficence made its report,
which was also adopted The. com-
mittee of education of the Paris
presbytery made its report gJil
recommended that A. O. Fitzgerald,
whom that presbytery dismissed to
this, be licensed to preach the gov-
pel, as tSat presbytery had intend-
ed to do had Rev. Fitzgerald re-
