A Texas judge has with-

execution date amid questions
that he may not be mentally
competent to be put to death.
On Thursday, less than two
weeks before Randall Mays’
scheduled Oct. 16 execution,
Judge Joe Clayton of Hen-
derson County withdrew the
death warrant. Mays’ attor-
neys had filed a motion to find
him incompetent for execution

Office.
Suspicious activity reports
decreased slightly and reports of
burglary of habitation dropped

Building checks were up to

stresses that RCSO would much
rather come out to check the
surroundings than to wait and
come out to investigate some-
thing much more dramatic.
Price said, “If you see something

Henderson students can now report bullying anonymously
through a new online tool. The school board got its first look at
the website during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday eve-
ning. Assistant Superintendent of Student Operations Shannon
Bennett said the website is an attempt to simplify the process of
receiving reports of bullying in the district.
“That’s the purpose of us putting this together,” said Bennett,
“to make it really, really easy for students. It allows students to
report incidents quickly and confidentially.”
A link to the webform is located on the district’s website. Cur-
rently, students can find the link under the “Departments” menu.
Trustee Jean Williams asked if there was a way to place a link
directly on the main page to make it easier to find the form.
“Absolutely,” replied Bennett. “We can definitely make that
happen.”
Superintendent Dr. Thurston Lamb said both district admin-
istrators and campus principals are notified when someone sub-

Jon Best has not made a statement since
his arrest on Sept. 27 for good reason. Only
the entire truth should be told to the public.
Not lies, not innuendos, and not partialcon-
versations. Jon and his lawyer want to hear
all of the recordings and videos just like all
the voters.
We made an attempt on Sept. 30 under
open records request to receive the record-
ings and videos, but Sheriff Price and Michael
Jimmerson decided to send a request to the
Attorney General as to whether the evidence
can be withheld until after the school board
election. If there is nothing to hide, then why
not give the evidence to Jon and the voters?
Its not like the videos or phone conversations
will change.
Jon knows he did not ask these boys to
do any of the mischief for him, nor did he
pay them to remove any signs or damage any
vehicle.
When Adam Roberson, Jon’s employee,
was confronted about the phone call, he
quickly resigned from Jon’s employment and
moved out of Jon’s parents’ house.
The phone call made to Jon by Adam
Roberson and recorded by the Sheriff s office
shows that Jon did not know about the juve-
niles’ actions until after the fact.
Mr. Roberson asked Jon on the phone call
if he wanted the boys to pull up more signs.
Jon told him NO. Jon wanted to tell the truth
