Stenholm announces his
County
residents
County Judge John M Weaver is
asking each community and school
in Comanche County to assist in rais-
ing 12 miles of pennies to assist in
rebuilding the Gustine High School.
Each mile of pennies is $844.80,
so this would raise $10,137.60.
Although Gustine School District
has insurance, it will not cover the
total loss.
As a goal for each community we
ask the following:
•Comanche 1SD has total enroll-
ment of 1,343 which equals .5387%
of total county school enrollment, so
Comanche could assume a goal of
$5,461
•De Leon ISD has total enrollment
of 797 which equals . 3197% of total
county school enrollment, so De
Leon could assume a goal of $3,241.
Gustine ISD has a total enrollment
of 212 which equals .0851% of the
total county school enrollment, so
Gustine could assume a goal of $862.
Sidney ISD has a total enrollment
of 141 which equals .0566% of the
total county school enrollment, so
Sidney could assume a goal of $573.
This idea has been discussed with
the schools who are supportive of
this idea, but we need all citizens to
dig out those pennies that may be
laying around in your cabinet or table
drawer and donate these pennies to
school children to take to their school
or just drop the pennies off at the
nearest school or designated collec-
tion points (these points to be desig-
nated at a later date).
Any donation is appreciated and
an account is now set up at First Na-
tional Bank in Gustine on behalf of
the Gustine School Disaster Fund.
Please help if you can by making out
a check to Gustine School Disaster
Fund and give to any school student.
Our students in each school are
taking the lead role in this fund drive,
but we need everyone's support to
help our friends in Gustine. DIG

understandable indignation.

"It's true that the minstrel show provided
some entertainment, but Richie won the
