Curtains Ring Down
On Tri Co. League
Schedule Sunday
Curtains rang down on the re-
gular Tri County League schedule
last Sunday with the Knickerbock-
ers wedded to the first place, Cal-
dwell at second, and defending ch-
lost to Pearl Beer. 12 to 7, in
the second game.
The last games of the season
were to be played here Wednes-
day night when Harris-Gaertner
ad Pearl Beer meet in the ope-
ner and Mike’s Fabric Shop and
Jax Beer vie in the second game.
After these games an all-star
team which will play teams from
surrounding towns will be picked.
The La Grange Ladies Softball
team lost their first game in the
Schulenburg Jaycee Tournament
Thursday night. They were de-

Ronnie Voss singled, stole sec-
ond and third, and scored on an lenbug. La Grange, and Flatonia

The Bellville lads got to La
Grange Starter Charles Plumlee
for three bingles in the seventh,
then got the winning hit off Re-
liefer Larry Jaster.
Both teams collcted seven
hits, with Voss getting three for
the losers.

Team Sets Games
The Harris-Gaertner Ladies
Softball team has scheduled two
games to be played in the near at the Little League Field at 7:30.
A four-run rally in the top of
the seventh spelled defeat for the year-old

was 7-1. Young Flores gave up
one hit in the 5th inning and held
West Columbia hitless the re-

The Fayette County team, made

the 1964 Boedecker T rophy as the
most competitive player of the Tri
County League as decided by man-
ager vote after each team had
submitted their candidate. The
award will likely be made at the
Carmine-Miller game next Sun-
day.
Somerville’s Fred Duet rich
won the 1963 trophy.
The trophy is one of the two
donated to the Tri County League
by Leonard Bodecker, well
known merchant of Caldwell and
Brenham, wherehe recently ac-
quired Lockett’s Men’s Wear!
The other trophy is an automa-
tic award to the winning manager
of the league. Boedecker tem-
porarily retired from baseball,
but this year stars with theCald-
well Colts.

champions lost their final game
to Somerville 7-4, with JimGlick
going the route for the winners
and Floyd Bentke taking th loss.

shed out solo homers.
In a game as torrid as the
weather in Brenham Firemen’s
Park, Carmine edged the Bren-
ham Millers 7-6 behind J. C.
Pohl’s 8-hitter, Pohl contribu-
ting at bat with a double and sin-
gle as did David Jaster. Starter
Chuck Machmehl lead his mates
with 2 singles and a triple, but
Willie Rogas, relieving after Jas -
ter’s double in the 7th, got the
charge for the loss.
Trailing 6-5, in the 8th with the
bags stacked and one down, Pohl
lined. to short and the throw to
plate cut off th tying run, but
the plate relay to first in a double
play attempt got away and the ty-
ing run romped across the plate,
and Jaster singled across the win-
ning run.
Mound Hill goes to Caldwell
next Sunday for the first game o
the Tri County League semi-fin-
als of the Shaughnessy playoffs,
while the Knickerbockers wait to
meet the winner of the sudden
death tie breaker in Brenham
Firemen’s ParkbetweenCarmine
and the Brenham Millers.
